Video Blog

This project was a friggin mess. I originally started on a totally different project and topic. 90% of the way through the project the partner that I teamed up with abandoned the project for some assinine reasons. I was very happy when we had a presentation from Natalia and she actually spoke about convictions that she had while making her film.

I remember at a point when we got to ask questions I asked her about the emotional rock she had to deal with while she was on patrol with some non-law enforcement people looking for illegal immigrants. The dilemma she had was something similar to what I had to deal with with my partner.
On the bright side I learned to get releases and contracts from all partners in my video projects. I also hope that the partner that I was with learned that as a media maker that they will come across questionable material in their careers and they will HAVE to stick to the project. If they can't then maybe the media world is not for them.

So a final middle finger to my ex partner that left me with my..........project.... hanging in the breeze.

The making of this final video project for me was a lot of fun. I learned how to use the cameras and I enjoyed the editing. I did not use final cut pro, instead I used Adobe Premiere. Much much easier to use.

That part was very enjoyable for me.

End of Semester Blog

Ok finally the semester is here. Thank GOD!!
this semester in Medp160 was a disaster for me.
From having a partner abandon a video project as we were 90% finished and having to start over from scratch to having material presented to us that was just down right difficult to learn.
In my opinion this should not have been a two part course. It was just unnecessary.
The first part of the course was much better more intimate and I learned more from that class.
We were stuck in a huge auditorium for this class and it was just too impersonal. A lot of students used this setting to sit in the back of the class and talk and laugh all class long. Very distracting and the teachers did not much to maintain order in the class.

Everything was so disorganized especially at the second half of the semester. The flash classes were difficult to understand and I still had to resort to online videos to help me.

Two thumbs down for this class

Blog 4. Speaking with animation

I have chosen the flash animations at sitepal
http://www.sitepal.com/
In my opinion this website takes flash animations to a whole new level. It uses photographs that you can submit to them then they will change it into a flash character that talks to you. You can send audio or text to them then the company will animate the photograph you sent and have it repeat the phrase you sent them.
I have known about this company since 2003 and I have been using their services on some on my websites with great success. The animations are eye catching and send out your message.
Over the years they have improved their technology dramatically and have added 3-D characters and environments with their avatars.
I give sitepal three thumbs up. (I'll grow an extra thumb)

Medp 160 Post 2

I am a BIG fan of the God of War game series.
I have chosen this trailer for the upcoming release of the third series in the game.
Gamers (myself included) have waited for this game for over two years. Watching the many game previews and trailers over the past year for this game has peaked my interest for this game tremendously.I WILL be one of the first buyers of this game come March 15th. He is a promoter of chaos and mayhem yet the game player is somehow left rooting for him.

The trailer starts with the weilding of Kratos' main weapon and in the reflection of his knife we see an image of Kratos after he has apparently killed someone or something. That was not really editing in the traditional way that is done in regular film, but instead it was an animation effect and it is done seamlessly and effortlessly. As a media maker I am amazed at the complexity and the attention to intricate details the programmers have put into this trailer.
From hearing Kratos' voice as the narrator of his vengeance the viewer gets a general idea of what he intends to do to whoever stands in his way.
The music that the producers chose to portray the trailer excites the viewer and as it crescends the scene changes to another shot of game play the timing in impeccable and smoothly done.

Medp 160 Post 1

This is my first post for this class.
I don't find myself using the internet for anything fun or entertaining in the recent past. I find myself going to websites that I am currently building or if I need to do research on doing a particular topic that deals with website building. I am more focused on doing constructive things and I rarely use the internet for fun or nonsense. There is a lot of that out there.
I enjoy the fact that I can have a particular question about web page design and simply do a google search and I can find the answers that I need. There is always someone out there who has had the excact same problems I have had and they have had the common sense to put it on the web for everyone to learn from it.

Design I like

Design I like

I chose the country of Dubai for their bold, ingenious and innovative designs. Sure they are broke now but that is not what this article is about.

I know it is not a book or billboard or DVD cover but WHO CARES!!

Just look at this place imaging building land mass in the middle of the ocean.

Something as magnificent as this should not go unmentioned. For years I have been amazed by this and I kept saying to myself that either a hurricaine or typhoon will knock them out. But alas.. It was the economy that got the best shot.

Their design and artistic ability simply screams at the onlookers "We are better than you!" I'll actually pick another design I like in my next blog.
